WELCOME TO LILAC HILL DESIGNS

Creating beautiful and useful things for gardeners and non-gardeners alike has become my passion.

My background as a graphic designer and marketing person has fueled my creativity for many years. I am now channeling much of my creative spirit into the products of Lilac Hill Designs.

I learned how to sew when I was about 10 years old and have always had an interest in creating new things by hand. I have rekindled the love to do tactile design with fabrics into the products of Lilac Hill Designs.

My first products were driven by my love for the garden. I am especially proud of my unique cross-body garden bag which I developed after repeatedly losing garden tools around my yard. I knew that having something that attached to me, in a non-invasive way, would be the answer. Much sketching, several prototypes later and the current Cross-Body Garden Bag was created and has become a must-have and well-loved product by many gardeners throughout the country.

The design of this bag became the basis for the first products of my up-cycled wool accessories. I paired the successful cross-body format, with my interest to create up-cycled products, which in this case created a new use for wool and wool blend jackets, skirts and pants. The line now encompasses multiple products which appeal to many.

This line of products has also become part of a custom service I now offer to create Memorial Keepsakes, for those who have lost a loved one, and seek to find a way to preserve the better clothing or uniforms that were a part of that person’s life. These clothes that had been left hanging in closets, or stashed away in attics, take on a new purpose as keepsakes. In the end, as they become totes, purses, wallets, or other accessories, and bring a sense of joy and relief to those who receive these gifts. I find this work truly rewarding.

I love to hear from my customers, so if you have special custom requests or comments, please feel free to email me.

Remembering Mr. Hwiggins

Mr. Hwiggins
2012-2018

In December of 2017, two weeks before Christmas we laid to rest Mr. Hwiggins, our faithful shipping assistant, in the garden at Lilac Hill. He will forever have a place near the barn and a view of the ponds that he so loved.

He never passed up the opportunity to explore an empty box or one filled with papers. He would curl up and sleep for hours – or until he got relocated.

We dearly miss his warm presence and loving personality.
